Author Guidelines
Please follow these guidelines closely. Your paper will be returned to you unread and unreviewed if any of these guidelines are not followed.
You must register with the Stream site in order to submit a paper.
Manuscripts are expected to be the original work of the author. They should not be under consideration of any other publication. By submitting to this journal, the author agrees to allow Stream to release his or her article under the Creative Commons Attribution–Noncommercial–No Derivative works 2.5 Canada licence.
Papers should be submitted with a 150–word abstract, which appears at the beginning of the paper and which is labeled “abstract” and a biographical note about the author not to exceed 100 words.
Remove all information that could identify the author from the paper.
Papers should be 15–20 pages in length and submitted electronically in Word (.doc) or rich text (.rtf) format.
Manuscripts should be double spaced. They should employ italics rather than underlining (except URLs).
Stream only accepts papers whose in-text citations and works cited lists conform to APA style. Please consult an APA style guide. See also http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/. Before submitting your paper, check all of your citations. Ensure their accuracy in terms of content, page numbers, etc.
Please ensure your paper uses Canadian spelling. Consult the Canadian Oxford English Dictionary or the Canadian Press Caps and Spelling.
Punctuation:
- Commas and periods are located inside of quotation marks (e.g. end.”), not outside of them (e.g. end”.)
- When punctuating a list with serial commas, include a comma before the final list item (e.g., “this, that, and the other thing,” not “x, y and z”).
- Do not use two spaces between sentences. Only use one space.
Please use endnotes sparingly. Do not use MS Word’s footnote/endnote function, as this will not import into our typesetting software. Instead, enter endnotes in the body of your paper as superscript text. List notes at the end of your paper as regular text. Ensure that your in-text endnote numbers and the notes at the end of the paper correspond.
Stream allows for three levels of headings. Level 1 headings are bold, level 2 headings are italic, and level 3 headings are plain text.
Photos or tables should be placed in the text and labeled correctly according to APA style. Ensure that you can provide high resolution (at least 150dpi) copies of all photographs and graphics upon acceptance. All photos must be accompanied by copyright information. If the copyright of the photo is not held by the author, then permission must be obtained from the original copyright holder. It is the author’s responsibility to obtain this permission.
